Accessing Industry

Talking with biotechnologists gives students a chance to experience the problem-solving nature of the industry and develop an appreciation of the complexity of authentic biotechnological solutions. Check out the different options for your students to get first-hand experience of industry.

  • Experts visit classes

One of the easiest ways to bring together students and practising experts is to have experts visit classes.

  • Field trips to industry

Field trips allow students to see first hand what goes on in an organisation or field of study.

  • On-site learning programmes

Learning often works best when it is hands-on and involves person-to-person interaction. Several companies have developed on-site learning programmes that recognise this.

  • School competitions

Some school students get the exciting opportunity to travel nationally and internationally to biotechnology events. Watch out for upcoming competitions listed in events, or check out the Royal Society of New Zealand.
