Biotechnology for conservation
This 50 minute session at Wellington Zoo provides an insight into how technology is helping some of our most endangered species. It is suitable for Year 12 and Year 13 science and biology students.
Different methods of assisted reproduction, including embryo transfer, hormone monitoring and cryopreservation are considered. The role of genetic analysis in combating illegal trafficking of endangered species is also highlighted.
After the session, students are encouraged observe some of our endangered species in the flesh.
