Professional Associations

Here are links to some of the professional associations for teachers in science and technology.

Home Economics and Technology Teachers' Association (HETTANZ)
HETTANZ is the official subject association for teachers and/or people interested in the teaching of technology and the allied fields of health, human development, human nutrition, hospitality and life science.

New Zealand Association of Science Educators (NZASE)
NZASE represents the interests of NZ science teachers, hosts conferences, publishes a professional journal, and produces teaching resources including the alpha and gamma series.

New Zealand Graphics and Technology Teachers Association (NZGTTA)
NZGTTA supports teachers of graphics and technology in all school levels. They hold meetings, host trips to industry, share teaching resources, and provide professional development.

New Zealand Institute of Chemistry (NZIC)
NZIC represents members involved in the profession of chemistry, including the study, practice, teaching, promotion and management of chemistry.

New Zealand Institute of Physics (NZIP)
NZIP is an association for professional physicists, including college and university teachers.

Techlink
Through a partnership with the Ministry of Education and The Institution of Professional Engineers New Zealand (IPENZ), Techlink to provides resource material to support the planning and implementation of programmes in technology education.

The Royal Society of New Zealand
New Zealand's national academy of sciences, promotes an awareness of science and technology in schools, industry and society. They also publish eight journals, offer science advice to government, and foster international scientific contact and co-operation.
