BLIS Technologies develops and makes healthcare products from advanced probiotics. Advanced probiotics are harmless bacteria that release natural antibiotics, which can kill unhealthy or harmful bacteria.
What is BLIS?
BLIS or Bacteriocin-Like Inhibitory Substances are natural antibiotics produced by some strains of bacteria. Over the past 20 years scientists at the University of Otago have identified several strains of BLIS-producing bacteria that can kill unwanted bacteria in the mouth and throat.
Products that use BLIS
One of the strains of BLIS-producing bacteria, BLIS K12 (or Streptococcus salivarius K12), has been developed into effective treatments for throat infections and bad breath, for example:
