Sensortec
Activities: Research, development and consultancy for the dairy industry.
Sensortec specialises in developing electronic equipment to measure specific molecules in biological substances, for example to detect hormone levels or the presence of antibiotics in milk.
Sensortec is made up of scientists, engineers and graduate students, supported by a specialised management team. They work with other research institutes and companies using their expertise in:

- Animal and human physiology
- Electronics engineering
- Mechanical engineering
- Dairy engineering
- Automation.
One of Sensortec’s current projects is helping New Zealand dairy farmers make their farms more productive by producing sensor technology that can measure what is in individual cow’s milk, for example milk solids, hormones, or bacterial infections. This gives the farmer specific information about his animals’ health and well-being, milk quality and composition and fertility and nutrition.
