SCICON2016
Competitions
Date: 10 Jul, 2016 to 13 Jul, 2016
SCICON is a biennial conference for New Zealand Science Educators hosted by the New Zealand Association of Educators (NZASE). This years’ conference theme is Earth-shattering science.
Need a reason to attend - try one of these:
- All science strands are integrated into this conference and there will be a special focus on offering Earth and Space Science options as well as a strand for Primary Educators.
- A research strand hosted by the NZARE Science Special Interest Group with the theme, 'shaking up science education' builds on the conference theme of 'Earth shattering science' and recognises those involved in innovative research projects across New Zealand - from teaching inquiries undertaken by teachers in their own classrooms, to national initiatives seeking to inform science education and the Government's goal of a more scientifically engaged public.
- Lots of networking! Hutt City and SCICON will be welcoming delegates on Sunday 10 July at the welcome reception (5-7pm The Dowse Art Gallery) and the Gala Dinner will take place Monday 11 July.
- There will also be a social event on Tuesday evening with optional field trip offerings following the midday conference close Wednesday.
- Local trips during the conference! As well as bringing scientists to our conference... we'll go to them to experience science as it happens. Delegates can expect to meet cutting edge scientists on their own turf to hear, smell, see and feel the science as it happens.
Location: Hutt City
