The bovine genome mapping project has determined the complete genome sequence for the cow. A New Zealand consortium including Dairy InSight, AgResearch and Agritech Investments invested US$1 million into a US$53 million project to sequence the bovine genome. This project involved collaborations with organisations in Australia, Canada and the USA. Here Theresa Wilson explains the bovine genome breakthrough.
