Free radicals and vegetables

31 Aug, 2006

Mark Hampton talks about the levels of free radicals in vegetables as part of his work for the Free Radical Research Group.

Listen to audio: Free radicals and vegetables

Duration: 9'38"

Mark Hampton talks to Louise Wallace about his research on free radicals and their involvement in diseases like cancer. He has shown that naturally occurring chemical compounds found in vegetables such as broccoli, Brussels sprouts, and watercress could help kill cancer cells that are resistant to other treatments. His research also helps explain why things that don’t taste nice are often good for you.
