Tuberculosis infection rates are higher per capita in New Zealand than the United States, Canada, and Australia. New Zealand medical researchers met recently to launch a determined attack on this debilitating disease. Louise Wallace discusses tuberculosis vaccines with Joanna Kirman, Head of the Infectious Diseases Group at the Malaghan Institute. Joanna says the disease is well established here and abroad and the need for new vaccines has never been more urgent.
