Quality
In product development terms, quality is a relative term that is defined by how well the product meets, or exceeds, what it was designed to do. In other words, the product’s fitness for purpose.
A product’s quality, or fitness for purpose, is judged by the degree to which it matches the desired specifications.
This view of quality can be used to judge any product or service and has two clear features:
- measuring against specifications
- meeting customer requirements
Measuring against specification requires a quality assurance system.
